The Ridgefield School System demands scholastic excellence emphasizing individual growth and firm discipline. The high scholastic achievement enjoyed is a product of the education facilities available, the concerned teachers and involved parents in the community.

The Ridgefield Board of Education offers varied programs designed to meet the needs of the individual student. 

The high school provides programs to prepare its graduates for college, business, or industry. 

Pupil to teacher ratio is 20 to 1 in Kindergarten and first grade, and 25 to 1 in second through twelfth grades. 

Special Services include guidance counseling, remedial reading, classes for trainable and educable retarded students, and flexible teaching arrangements for ill or physically handicapped students at school or at home. 

Athletic and extracurricular activities are available at all school levels. 

School bus service is provided for all students not within walking distance and hot lunches at all schools are sold at cost. Parent-Teacher Associations: Each school has its own PTA, which is a branch of the national PTA. At the high school it is called the Parent-Teacher-Student Association. The Joint Council of PTAs brings together the presidents of each PTA, the principals and other representatives. It provides communication among administration, parents and the various PTAs. It conducts joint projects such as the school census. 

94% of Ridgefield pupils go on to higher education.
