Children and Youth:
Art, Ballet, Basketball, Baton Twirling, Beauty Workshop (teenage), Gymnastics, Horseback Riding, Rifle Range, Saturday Afternoon Movies and Swimming, Saturday Afternoon Recreation, Soccer, Girls' Softball, Summer Supervised Playgrounds, Summer Swimming, Tennis, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls, Indian Guides and Princesses, Little League, Babe Ruth League, Red Raider Football, Pop Warner Football, Ramapoo Rifle Club, Spruce Ridge Farm and Waterfall Farm (riding academies), Soccer, Lacrosse, Ridgefield Boys Club.
Throughout the year, many organizations and groups sponsor recreational activities, such as plays, concerts, lectures, sidewalk art shows, antique and plant sales, etc.
The Ridgefield Skating center features an indoor ice rink where extensive youth hockey and figure skating programs are offered.
Senior Citizens:
OWLS (older, wiser, livelier set) sponsor many senior citizens programs including seasonal trips throughout the area. The HART bus provides local transportation to senior citizens at a nominal charge.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
The Aldrich Museum: enjoys an international reputation for its displays of contemporary art.
Keeler Tavern: historic colonial located on Main Street.
Charles Pope Choristers: adult and children participation in choral music, bell choir, operetta performances.
Ridgefield Symphony: orchestra with 35 to 50 members who play classical works.
Ridgefield Workshop for the Performing Arts: theater group.
THE LIBRARY
The Ridgefield Library and Historical Association is a free, public library located at the corner of Main and Prospect Streets. It has some 68,000 volumes. There are current newspapers and periodicals, video cassettes, interlibrary loan services, records and art prints which may be loaned, special exhibits, and a frequently changing display of works by local artists.
The children's section has special programs including story hour, films and many other activities. Adult programs include lectures and films in Dayton Program room.
Library facilities are open to Ridgefield residents. The library is governed by a Board of Directors and employs full-time librarians. It receives an appropriation from the town, and voluntary contributions.

PARKS AND RECREATION
The Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Commission sponsors and organizes many adult and youth activities throughout the year, but especially in the summer months. Some activities are free, while others require a nominal fee. Local parks include:
Aldrich Park: 37 acres; wooded area with trails for hiking and camping; baseball diamond; parking.
Ballard Park: a small, beautifully manicured park with gardens and a small playground.
Boulton Refuge: 33.8 acres; wooded and open ares with walking trails; used by schools for "outdoor" labs.
Lake Windwing: 100+ acres including lake; fishing; camping; hiking; ballfield.
Levy Park: 38 acres; trails; camping; hiking.
Limestone Refuge: 9.9 acres; a wildlife refuge that is largely water; excellent birdwatching.
Lippolt: 579 acres; trails
for horseback riding; hiking; camping.
Martin Park: woodland featuring Great Pond and town beach for swimming activities.
McManus: 26 acres; informal park.
Peaceable Refuge: 16 acres; lovely pathway.
Peterson Gorge: 13.5 acres; outdoor study area for school students; trails; variety of plants, trees, wildflowers.
Pierrepont State Park: 312 acres; horseback riding; nature walks; hiking.
Richardson Park: 30 acres; a fine park for picnicking and nature study.
Rockwell: 25.3 acres; developed playing fields.
Scotland Refuge: 9.6 acres; Riverside trail used by walkers and school groups for study.
West Mountain Ballfield: 3.6 acres; ballfield.
Woodcock Nature Center: guided tours and limited camping permits available.
